27 Jan Homeschool Mom Outfits: What I Wore – Week 2
Week 2 of showing real homeschool mom outfits!
If you’re new here: OOTW stands for Outfit of the Week. It’s what I actually wore Monday through Friday, not styled photoshoots, just whatever I threw on for real life.
This week was full: dentist appointments, speech therapy, parkour, karate (twice!), Italian class for me, a movie date with the boys, and a playground playdate. My outfits had to survive ALL of it.
Here’s what I wore:

MONDAY: Dentist, Speech, Parkour
THE OUTFIT:
THE DAY: Morning dentist appointment for the boys (both cavity-free! 🎉), followed by speech therapy, then parkour in the afternoon. This outfit needed to take me from a waiting room to watching 7-year-olds flip off wooden blocks.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
LET’S TALK: The wide-leg jeans are my favorite right now, comfortable enough for sitting cross-legged during homeschool, put together enough for the dentist’s office. The navy top DOES NOT wrinkle… even after hours of wear. The slides are slip-on which is KEY when you’re rushing two kids out the door.
WHAT THE BOYS SAID: “Mom, you look like a teacher!” (I’ll take it?)

TUESDAY: Productive Homeschool Day, Karate
THE OUTFIT:
- White oversized v-neck tee (knotted at waist)
- Orange athletic shorts
- Purple and orange tennis shoes
THE DAY: One of those rare homeschool days where everything clicked! We finished math before lunch, did a hands-on science experiment, and still had time for the boys to play outside before evening karate class.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
LET’S TALK: This is peak comfortable homeschool mom. The oversized tee knotted at the waist gives it a little shape without being fussy. Athletic shorts mean I can sit on the floor, chase kids outside, and not worry about anything riding up or being uncomfortable. And these tennis shoes? They match the shorts perfectly AND are comfortable for standing, running, jumping, playing all day.
WHAT THE BOYS SAID: “Why are your shoes so colorful?” (Because they make me happy, kid!)
KID VERDICT: Approved, they loved that we matched in our athletic clothes.

WEDNESDAY: Movie Date with the Boys
THE OUTFIT:
THE DAY: Midweek movie date! We did our core homeschool work in the morning, then took the afternoon to see a movie together. Sometimes you need to break up the week with something fun.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
LET’S TALK: I wanted to feel a little more put-together for our “date” but still be comfortable for sitting in a movie theater. This maxi skirt is incredibly comfortable (elastic waist! we love to see it) and the ballet flats are cute without being impractical. The black tank is simple and let the skirt be the statement.
WHAT THE BOYS SAID: “You’re wearing a long skirt! Like a princess!” (Close enough!)
MOM NOTE: The skirt has POCKETS! Need I say any more…

THURSDAY: Homeschool, Italian Class, Karate
THE OUTFIT:
THE DAY: Thursday is Italian class day! I do a FaceTime Italian class (sometimes in person, when I can swing it) while the boys work on independent activities, then we have karate in the evening. This outfit needed to work for teaching homeschool, put together enough (at least from the waist up) for my class, and sitting on gym floors.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
LET’S TALK: This striped top makes me happy… it’s cheerful and bright without being over the top, which I am sometimes too! It’s also casual enough for homeschool but feels put together enough for class. The denim shorts are the perfect length (not too short, not too long) and the woven sandals are surprisingly supportive.
WHAT THE BOYS SAID: “You look like sunshine!” (Best compliment ever.)

FRIDAY: Speech, Science Class, Playground Playdate
THE OUTFIT:
THE DAY: Full Friday! Morning speech therapy, afternoon science class at the park, then a spontaneous playground playdate with homeschool friends. This outfit had to do EVERYTHING.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
LET’S TALK: When in doubt: white tee and jeans. This combination never fails. The flare jeans are comfortable, which is basically all I’m looking for in my clothes. The white tee is simple and clean. And the rose gold hoops make it feel slightly more put-together, maybe?!
WHAT THE BOYS SAID: Nothing… which means it was normal enough they didn’t notice!
END OF WEEK THOUGHTS: This outfit felt effortless but still “me.” It worked for everything we did, and I felt comfortable the entire day.

WEEK 2 RECAP
MOST WORN ITEMS:
- White slip-in sneakers (love these, hands-free!)
- Rose gold hoops (my current everyday earrings)
- Denim in various forms (of course!)
FAVORITE OUTFIT: Thursday’s yellow striped top with denim shorts. It just made me happy!
MOST VERSATILE PIECE: The navy button-up from Monday. Could be dressed up or down, didn’t wrinkle, survived parkour.
LESSON: Athletic wear doesn’t have to look frumpy. Tuesday’s outfit was all athletic pieces but the bright colors and knotted tee made it feel intentional.

WHY I’M SHARING
“Why are you sharing your outfits? They’re not fancy.”
Exactly.
Homeschool moms need to see other homeschool moms being REAL. Not Instagram-perfect. Not styled photoshoots. Just normal humans wearing normal clothes and doing normal life.
We’re not just educators. We’re not just moms. We’re PEOPLE who deserve to feel good in what we wear, even if what we wear is athletic shorts and a knotted tee.
OOTW isn’t about fashion. It’s about showing up as ourselves and letting other people see what that actually looks like.
So here I am… showing you what I wore.
What did YOU wear this week? Tell me in the comments, I genuinely want to know! What’s your go-to homeschool outfit? What makes you feel good? What survives everything your week throws at you?
Let’s normalize real life together.
See you next soon!
xo,
Jayme
