Homeschool Mom Outfits: What I Wore – Week 1

Homeschool Mom Outfits: What I Wore – Week 1

Happy Friday! Welcome to the very first edition of my Real Life Homeschool Mom OOTW (Outfits of the Week)!

Here’s what I actually wore while homeschooling the twins this week. Five simple outfits for five homeschool days, nothing fancy, no Pinterest-perfect looks, just comfortable and real.

Before we dive in, I’m going to share something I’ve learned “staying home” these past seven years. Taking as little as 20 minutes in the morning to put on some makeup and get dressed in real clothes (not pajamas!) really sets the tone for a more productive day for me somehow. It’s like flipping a switch in my brain that says “okay, we’re doing this!” Even on the hardest homeschool days, that little morning routine makes such a difference.

Let’s jump into this week’s outfits!

MONDAY: “Casual Comfort”

What I wore:

What we did: Low-key homeschool day with math and reading, speech therapy appointment in the afternoon, then karate class for the boys

Real talk: This is one of my go-to “I would like to look somewhat put together but also be comfortable all day” outfit. The chambray shirt works for everything… homeschool at home, therapy appointments that can get chilly, and sitting in the dojo watching karate. The flare pants are technically yoga pants but look like actual pants, which is exactly the level of effort I’m going for most days! 😂

TUESDAY: “Tied-Up Style”

What I wore:

  • Top: White waffle knit top (tied at waist) – Shop similar
  • Bottom: Loose black jean shorts – Shop similar
  • Shoes: Black and white slides – Shop similar
  • Hat: Black sweaty Betty baseball cap (seriously the best cap for small-ish heads, I have it in white and black and wear them most days of the week to be honest) – Shop similar

What we did: Karate belt testing for the boys (so, so proud of my little orange belts!), followed by a casual family BBQ

Real talk: Karate belt testing is a big deal, and a family BBQ is a great way to celebrate accomplishment. This outfit hit that sweet spot of “I’m here to support my kids” without melting in the Florida heat. The tied waffle knit top is one of my favorites (I wear it out… and as pajamas!) it’s loose enough to be comfy but the tie gives it a little shape. And yes, I wore slides. Because sometimes easy slip-ons are the move!

WEDNESDAY: “Simple and Productive”

What I wore:

What we did: Very productive homeschool day (finished an entire unit in science!), speech therapy, and parkour class

Real talk: This might be my favorite outfit of the week! Sometimes the simple combinations just WORK. Olive green tee + distressed jeans + comfy & trendy sneakers = effortless.

And these rose gold hoops? They’ve become my go to earrings. They’re the perfect size, not too big, not too small, plus super lightweight, and they don’t bother my sensitive ears at all. I literally forget I’m wearing them, which is exactly what I like in an earring!

THURSDAY: “Layered and Ready”

What I wore:

What we did: Full day at the science museum, then evening karate class

Real talk: This ivory shacket is one of my most-worn pieces of clothing! I love it buttoned up, unbuttoned, tied at the waist, it just works so many ways. Perfect for places like museums where the air conditioning is FREEZING but you’ll also be outside in the parking lot and in playground areas sweating. Layers are a South Florida homeschool mom’s best friend! The science museum wore us all out, but at least I looked halfway decent. 😅

FRIDAY: “Active Day Ready”

What I wore:

What we did: Skate Science homeschool co-op, then outdoor skate park time

Real talk: Belt bags may be “out” according to fashion experts, but I can’t let them go! They’re just too convenient when you’re at a skate park chasing kids, holding water bottles, and trying to capture videos all at once. My hands need to be FREE, people!

This athletic vibe was perfect for co-op and the skate park. Tennis skirts are a way of life… I like to think of them as elevated athletic shorts. Comfortable enough for all the activity but definitely  cuter than my typical workout clothes.

THIS WEEK’S FAVORITE:

Definitely Wednesday’s outfit (olive tee + distressed jeans + trendy sneakers). Sometimes simple just wins! It was comfortable, looked put-together, and I felt good all day. Plus, we actually got SO much done in homeschool that day… coincidence? I think not! 😊

MOST WORN ITEMS THIS WEEK:

Baseball caps: Wore them 3 out of 5 days! They’re essential for:

  • Hiding messy mom hair
  • Keeping sun out of my eyes and my face protected at outdoor activities
  • Looking cute & sporty without trying

Black & White Reeboks: Wore them twice! Once I find comfortable shoes, I wear them into the ground. These are cute, comfy, and go with absolutely everything!

Rose gold hoops: My current everyday earrings. Perfect size, lightweight, and sensitive-ear-friendly!
